Y5/6 Girls 5-a-side football competition

The girls had a very successful sunny day competing against 30 other teams on in the Wandsworth Primary Schools Girls Football Competition.  The girls drew their first match and then went on to win 5 consecutive games before losing to Honeywell, the eventual winners of the competition.

The girls finished 2nd in their league and were drawn against Holy Ghost in the quarter finals of the tournament.  After an intense battle during full time and extra time there was still no winning team and the result had to be decided by penalty shootouts.  After some epic saves from both goal keepers the game still couldn't be decided and went to nail biting 'sudden death' penalties.  Luck wasn't on our side and unfortunately we lost the match at the last hurdle.  Holy Ghost progressed to the final where they were beat 1-2 by Honeywell, the only schools we lost against on the day.

Despite the heart breaking exit out of the tournament the girls should be really proud of their hard work, effort, organisation and team work  they exemplified throughout the competition.
