Creative writing challenges

Does your child like a challenge?
Do you want to help them to improve their writing?
If so, 100wc could be for you! (Next time, I'll mention the 5 Sentence Challenge that some Infants might choose to do instead).

What is the 100 Word Challenge (100wc)?

  • You have to write a maximum of 100 words about a picture or word prompt. (There is a new prompt each week but you don't have to do it every week).
  • You could write less than 100 words.
  • Or for an even greater challenge - for the best writer/editors who want to test themselves - try and make it exactly 100!

Here is the latest prompt from the 100wc website.
"This photograph was taken when I went to San Francisco in February. I have no idea what was going on but know you will be able to make up some wonderful stories!"

Questions to ask yourself
  • What are these lads up to?
  • Where are they going?
  • Where have they been?

Children can write their story scenes (not the whole story!) and hand in to Mr Beazeley any time in the next week. House Points available!

Remember that you are writing for an audience - for others to read and enjoy - so think:

Is it good to read? (funny, scary, interesting; makes you want to read more)

Is it easy to read? (punctuation, spelling, handwriting)

I look forward to reading your work. Those that want to can also be shown how to post their work onto a blog and maybe also to the www.100wc.net site for an even bigger audience!
